Akelius Foundation invites organizations, educational institutions, and non-governmental organizations to collaborate in implementing language learning through the Akelius language course.
Akelius Foundation is committed to helping people in need by providing free language education around the world.
Every year, Akelius Foundation donates EUR 30 million to support educational projects, including funding of schools.
The language project started in 2015 during the European migrant crisis.
The main idea was to support refugees in their language acquisition journey, when settling in a new country.
Since 2018 Akelius, in cooperation with UNICEF, has developed a language learning application.
Today 150,000 students benefit from the educational programs around the world. Akelius Foundation partners with UNICEF, UNHCR, SOS Children's Villages, and various local organizations.
The online and offline language course is currently available in eleven languages.

What types of organizations does the Akelius Foundation support?
Akelius Foundation supports non-profit organizations, as well as associations and governmental entities.

Who can participate in Akelius-supported courses?
Courses are for learners in need, including children and underserved communities with limited access to education.
How many students per class and how often are classes held?
Recommended fifteen learners per class, two sessions per week, up to two hours each. Minimum five to six learners.
Format can be adjusted to local needs.
Can an organization start with one language and expand later?
Yes. It’s possible to start with one or two languages during the initial pilot phase.
Expansion requires approval and planning with Akelius after the pilot phase.
Can classes be held online?
No. Online-only classes are not recommended.
In-person classes ensure structure, teacher guidance, and blended learning.

Akelius is the UNICEF program for the development of linguistic and digital skills of students newly arrived in Italy (NAI), active in primary and lower secondary schools.
